FAQ’S Waxing

This definitely depends on your pain tolerance. However, because the hair is removed at the root, people tend to report some discomfort during the treatment. If you’ve got a very low pain threshold then you may want to consider taking some pain relief to help with the discomfort. Over-the-counter anti-inflammatories such as ibuprofen are a popular choice for some clients.
In the world of hair removal, waxing and shaving are entirely different. Both processes rid or remove hair. The key differences: results and processes. Wax swiftly pulls hair from the root through repetitive tugs. Shaving is more of a trim, only removing hair from the surface of the skin and leaving the root intact. Shaving regrowth is much quicker with a need to shave the area weekly or daily whilst waxing lasts much longer. With waxing the hair growth is thinner and softer with less stubble. A consistent approach to both treatment is recommended as a combination of both can lead to increased irritation and poor results. Waxing and Clippering combination compliments most male body.
The minimum length of hair to be waxed is ¼ inch to ½ inch in length. If you recently shaved, allow a regrowth period of 5-7 days before waxing. If your hair is too long for waxing, we will clipper it for you. A grade 4 is the safest option with a clipper
Waxing can only be done when the hair is between 1/4- to 1/2-inch long. This means you should usually wax once every 3 to 4 weeks. Shaving can be done as often as necessary, but keep in mind that more frequent shaving may cause irritation in sensitive skin.

Come freshly showered. Avoid extreme exertion like long period of walking to the venue Allow adequate time to get to the venue relaxed After waxing of any areas, clean, loose clothing is recommended. You may consider changing your underwear or shirt after the treatment.
Full back, shoulders and Half Arms The Brazilian/ Hollywood? (a combination of intimate areas shaped, clipped or removed) Back, Sack and Crack (BSC) Ears Nostrils Chest and Stomach Clipped with Back and shoulders Waxed Legs Manscaped to blend with Intimate areas
Body shaving is recommended. Waxing prior to a treatment is not recommended. You must avoid plucking, waxing or bleaching the hair for six weeks prior to treatment. Preserving the root and the pigment of the hair is imperative for the success of the laser treatment. It is important to shave the area to be treated the day or night before your appointment.
It is very common for men to get waxed. Body part waxing and hair maintenance is now part of a male grooming regime. Guys are now conscious of top to toe grooming. While they may not get a full-body wax like most women, there is still a huge percentage of men getting areas of their body waxed. Waxing specific body parts help with hygiene and improve aesthetics.
Prior to waxing, each client is required to complete a consultation form. Honesty is the best policy in completing this form. The information provided is confidential and will help us to determine if you are suitable for waxing or help us to where possible bespoke the waxing treatment for you.

1. If you are taking anti-biotics or acne medication.

2. Use of skin peeling, skin thinning preparations.

3. Varicose Veins.

4. Underarms: Mastitis.

5. Skin disorders or diseases, such as bruising or recent haemorrhage, Scar tissue (especially recent).

6. Warts, Moles and skin tabs (area can be avoided).

7. Fractures or Sprains.

8. Bruising.

9. Diabetes - some people with diabetes have skin that is very slow to heal. The skin will be watched closely to make sure it does not over react to treatments.

10. Sensitivity test may be conducted.

11. Sunburn.

12. Use of sunbeds 24 hours prior to waxing.

13. If you are receiving cancer therapy (chemotherapy or radiation).
1. Menstruation does not prevent you from waxing, however, your skin may be more sensitive.

2. If you are pregnant, using oral contraceptives or hormone replacement your skin may be more sensitive to waxing, so it's best to have a patch test (like a small area on your arm) and see how your skin reacts for 24 hours before getting an entire eyebrow or leg wax.

3. If you smoke or have Rosacea waxing can irritate dilated capillaries (weak or broken blood vessels) which are commonly found on people with Rosacea and smokers. If the capillaries are very red, stay away from waxing in that area.

4. Stimulants such as caffeine or alcohol in your system can cause skin to be extra sensitive to waxing, meaning you could get redder or inflamed than usual. Give yourself a couple hours after drinking coffee or alcohol before getting waxed.

5. You might be affected if you use powerful exfoliators on your skin. Salicylic acid (found in some toners or skin clarifiers), alpha-hydroxy acid, white willow bark, white willow bark extract and enzymes all strip cells from the skin. It's all too much exfoliation combined with waxing, and could make skin red, bleed or even scab over. So, stop using these products in the area getting waxed for at least three days before, and three to four days after waxing. (Depending on the strength of the product and the type of skin you have the safe wax wait time may be much longer before and after. If the alpha-hydroxy is over 8% then you may have to wait months before safely getting waxed.)
1. Anti-Histamine or anti-allergy tablets are sometimes really good for helping your skin to settle much quicker after your waxing treatment, especially if it’s your first experience, or if you’ve got particularly sensitive skin.

2. Always check with your therapist about retail items available and what they recommend for post waxing after-care. Should you choose to purchase your own from the High Street make sure that you plan in advance so that you’ve got these to use straight after your waxing treatment.

3. Please avoid Extreme Chlorine (Swimming Pools, Jacuzzi), Sauna and Sunbed, Sunless tanning – 48-72 hours after waxing,

4. Wear clean, loose clothing

5. Keep the area hydrated/ moisturised

6. Avoid touching the area with soiled hands and this can cause infection.

7. Avoid use of perfumed or scented products due to skin sensitivity

8. Use Cold Compress to calm skin – A simple solution is running a towel under water or immerse the towel into chilled water and apply to the skin

9. Warm Compress can be used to remove in-grown hairs.

10. Avoid popping or picking bumps. This can damage the skin and lead to pigmentation or infection

11. Over the counter Cortisone cream can be applied

12. Aloe Vera and Tea Tree can help with soothing irritation

13. Exfoliate 48-72 hours post waxing or prior to a treatment is recommended. You can also discuss with your therapist a return date to get this done for you, especially in hard-to-reach areas like your back *at a cost.
